My Dream of Someone

Unexpectedly, you came into my life
            In a moment.........of emptyness
                   a vacuum, waiting to be filled.
When I least expected.........you were there
            words of encouragement
                       of caring
Creeping slowly into my heart
            forming the shape of love.
My senses, in disbelief, told me "stop"
            don't listen........knowing
               it's couldn't be true,
Not real, that I have finally
                     found you.
But my heart drifted.........
            like a snowflake
                 on its' journey....effortlessly.
You're close enough to touch,
            but oh, so far away
I want to pull you in so close...
                   I can't breathe,
            afraid you'll disappear.
Are we two star-crossed lovers
            our stars in position, synchronized
                 or lost in a fantasy of longing.
Is each step bringing us closer
            to that place where we are hopelessly
                  entwined, as one mind, one thought
                        one soul, instead of two?
I fight the impulse to want you
            in this gusty night,
                warm arms to hold me.......
Safety...a haven from doubt and fears.

I succomb to my hunger
as icy winds howl.......for you are
