Why?

Why are your kisses like ice
My love?
Has the love that warmed them
Ceased to be?
The attention that used to be mine,
Wandering.

Where did it go, that treasured love,
We waited for, for so long
It seems.
How can the taste of your lips
Be sour, your arms limpid
surrounding me.

Was that my dream that made you so,
A lover that could not be,
Or was it truly blind,
And I just couldn’t see.

I wonder where love goes to,
Is it lost in the ethers of time,
Or is it left only here,
Encased inside a rhyme.
